Textile Manufacturing

The Textile Manufacturing sector like Creative Industries is a large sector dominated by small businesses with plenty of innovation opportunity.

The Textiles Manufacturing sector is characterised by the large number of small and micro businesses which make up the bulk of the sector including a large proportion of sole traders. The LLEP area is not only home to garment manufacturers but also has a growing supply chain, including textile machinery manufacture. Globalisation has opened up the sector to a multitude of problems and possibilities and innovation is a key way of embracing this.

One area in which this sector is experiencing change and driving the need to innovate is the impact of online shopping (with the impact on stock levels of returned goods and changes in the distribution model) and the requirements of ‘fast fashion’. Technological innovation of process and production is also having an impact on sourcing decisions.

If your business is involved in textile manufacturing no matter how small then you could be eligible for iNet support, including access to grant funding, academic research time and market analysis and expertise.

The iNet support offering comes in the form of two ERDF projects:  SPRING and PROSPER, each with a slightly different support package.
