Food & Drink Manufacturing

The Food and Drink Manufacturing sector is one of the largest and most innovative manufacturing sectors in the UK.

There are five distinct stages in the production of food products:

  1. Raw material production – crop production, livestock etc
  2. First stage processing – converting the food from raw material into products ready for processing
  3. Conversion – processing or converting the food into consumer products
  4. Storage and Distribution – from central distribution hubs, accross the country to retail outlets, wholesalers etc
  5. Retail – final destination of food and drink products - to the consumer

iNet support covers the Conversion stage of the process, i.e. taking the product from processing through to final product ready for delivery to the consumer and to some extent the Storage and Distribution stage (see Logistics and Distribution). Some First Stage Processing might also be eligible for support.

If your business is involved in food and drink manufacturing then you could be eligible for iNet support including access to grant funding, academic research time and market analysis and expertise.

The iNet support offering comes in the form of two ERDF projects SING and PACE, each with a slightly different support package.
