LU Space Incubator

Now closed this project provided support for start-up companies and Small, Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) new to the space sector.

Overview

Working in partnership with the UK Space Agency, the LU Space Incubator provided support for businesses across the breadth of the sector including both upstream and downstream (using space-enabled data and services).  The LU Space Incubator was one of 7 supported by the Agency, all offering a different mix of support and aiming to share ideas and best practice.

The support included a mixture of:
  • Mentoring and one to one business support
  • Support to access local and national networks
  • Affordable accommodation or virtual tenancy

SME support - Main Points to Note

Support included one of more of the following:

  • Business Review and mentoring - including signposting and introductions to appropriate sources of support and expertise
  • 6 months' funded membership of UKspace SME Forum - UKspace is a trade association.  The UKspace SME Forum is focused on the needs of SMEs and provides a low-cost route to a range of expertise and resource for a vital part of the space industrial community
  • Up to 12 months' funded membership of LATiLATi is a local networking group for scientific and high-technology businesses. Members include major multi-national companies, small to medium sized enterprises, university departments, business support organisations and private individuals
  • Space in the ATIC - Accommodation and Virtual Tenancy - The Advanced Technology Innovation Centre (ATIC) offers business accommodation and a supportive environment for knowledge-based businesses
